Antarctica New Zealand is excited to be working with Gateway city partners to celebrate the beginning of the 2020/21 Antarctic summer season.
Festivities, dubbed Days of Ice will be held all around Christchurch, between 8-18th of October. From public talks, to photography exhibitions to Antarctic quizes, Days of Ice has something for everyone!

Days of Ice - Science on Ice Quiz 2020
Science on Ice is a five-part series that follows Sonny Ngatai around Scott Base, as he learns about the special animals that live on and under the Antarctic Ice.
While he's there, Sonny meets some of New Zealand's world-leading Antarctic scientists who teach him how to survive in Antarctica, and why their research is so important in our changing world.

Days of Ice – Kia ora, Scott Base
This October, Scott Base will be zooming into New Zealand classrooms for a short presentation about what it's like to live and work in Antarctica!
Hosted by Antarctica New Zealand, Primary school aged children (Y3-6) will hear directly from a panel of three Antarcticians on the history of Scott Base, how they support important climate science in Antarctica and of course, all of the wonderful animals that live there!

Days of Ice – Chilled play
Chilled is the tale of an influencer and a scientist working in Antarctica to save the world from Climate Change! There are a few bumps and crevasses along the way, but they must brave the elements to complete their mission!
This play will provide 45 minutes of the high-quality theatre, exciting adventure narratives and fascinating characters, all while teaching the audience about the world leading science that is conducted at Scott Base.
