Submit your abstract to the Antarctic Science Conference

Abstracts are to be up to 200 words (excluding title and authors)

If you have any questions about the abstract submission process, please contact the event organiser.

In the abstract portal you will be required to register with an email address.

As this is a combined event with SIRG you will then be asked to select which part of the conference you wish to present at - select ‘Antarctic Science Conference’.

You will then be asked to select your preferred presentation type and the session theme that your Antarctic research most closely aligns with (details below).

Presentation types

This year there will be the option of a ten-minute Pecha-Kucha* style oral presentation, a three-minute ‘lightning talk’ oral presentation, or a poster presentation.

*Insider tip: if you finish speaking before the slide automatically advances, there will be the option to manually advance to the next slide

Ten-minute Pecha-Kucha style oral presentations:

Presentations should be limited to 10 slides, and automatically advance at one minute per slide. Screen format is 16 x 9 (widescreen). Our suggested format for the slides is:

Slide 1: Title, author, acknowledgements and introduction of your team and topic

Slide 2: Why is this work important? (context)

Slides 3, 4, 5: Key findings

Slide 6: Significance of the findings (what difference have you made)

Slides 7 and 8: How the findings were made (methods)

Slide 9: Addressing the theme – Connecting through Change

Slide 10: Wrap up

Three-minute ‘lightning talk’ oral presentations:

Presentations should be limited to three slides, and include what you are doing and why it matters, but the format (i.e. how long to spend on each slide) is up to you.

Our suggested format for the slides is:

Slide 1: Title, author, acknowledgements and introduction of your team and topic

Slide 2: Why is this work important?

Slide 3: Key findings or how the findings will be made (methods)

Poster presentations:

Posters are to be A0 portrait format (32.7 x 45.4 inches or 83.0 x 115.4 cm). Posters will remain on display throughout the conference with two dedicated poster sessions. Presenters will be asked to be available for questions during one of two poster sessions.
