Graham Fortune - CNZM
grahamfortuneGraham Fortune was Secretary of Defence from 1999-2006. Previously Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Special Adviser to the Foreign Minister, he has also held several foreign service appointments including New Zealand High Commissioner in Canberra, Australia; Ambassador to the United Nations, GATT and Disarmament in Geneva, Switzerland; and diplomatic assignments in Canada, Papua New Guinea and Cook Islands. Graham has had a long involvement with Antarctic issues including membership of the Ross Dependency Research Committee. He has attended international Antarctic conferences and has been involved in inspections. Graham has a MSc (Hons) in Chemistry and BSc in Geology from the University of Otago. He has represented New Zealand in his chosen sport, orienteering.
