Filmed during the 2015-16 Antarctic research season at New Zealand’s Scott Base, using only three cameramen over seven weeks with minimal helicopter time, this may be one of this most challenging television series ever undertaken by National Geographic.

As part of a partnership with New Zealand Antarctic Research Institute and Antarctica New Zealand, Continent 7: Antarctica documents Antarctic science through the eyes of the men and women working at New Zealand’s Scott Base. It offers a glance into the everyday operations of an Antarctic research base, and the unique challenges of working in one of the most inhospitable environments in the world.

“You walk outside. Everything becomes white. The sky is white. Everything underneath you is white. You leave no footprints."
